Dear participants, on behalf of the Staff and Management of Federal University of Technology, Minna, I heartily welcome you to Niger State as we host the 48th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Society for Microbiology, 2026. Minna is the capital city of Niger State, which shares border with Kaduna, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Minna is peaceful and blessed with numerous natural resources, including agricultural products that can be utilised for various industrial sectors. The Local Organizing Committee has put things in place to ensure a hitch free Conference. Distinguished colleagues, partners and participants, I specially welcome you all to the 48th Annual Conference and Scientific Meeting of our great Society. This year's Conference will hold in Minna, Niger State a home of power and hospitality.
As we gather together to share our thoughts and research outputs on the role of Microbiology in ensuring green economy and environmental sustainability, I hope that you will utilise this conference to connect with mentors, collaborate with colleagues and advance cutting edge research.
The current focus is translational research, where microbes and microbiological methods are utilized to develop products that addresses the numerous challenges bedevilling our world and our beloved nation in particular.

I welcome you all to FUTMINNA NSM 2026, This year's conference promises to be exciting and fully loaded with lots of scientific activities as we consider the theme "Harnessing Microbial Machineries for Green Economy and Industrial Revolution" with four sub themes that cut across current developments in differs field of Microbiology. Our speakers are men and woman of high pedigree in their various areas of research. The plenary and technical sessions will be full of opportunities to connect with fellow researchers for future research collaborations. The conference will be hybrid in nature accommodating both online and onsite presentations.
